Blink ESS Inc. is a company specializing in energy storage solutions and battery energy storage systems. As the company continues to expand its operations in Canada, we are looking for a dependable and independent HR professional who can help build and manage core HR functions from the ground up.
Position Summary
The HR Generalist will be responsible for handling day-to-day HR operations and supporting the development of HR policies, procedures, recruitment processes, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and general office/people operations.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, resourceful, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a start-up environment. The successful candidate must be able to take initiative, identify what needs to be done, and build practical HR processes without requiring constant supervision or guidance.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
- Manage daily HR operations and provide support to employees and management.
- Create, organize, and maintain employee files, HR records, templates, forms, and internal documents.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and workplace guidelines.
- Ensure HR processes are compliant with Ontario employment standards and applicable workplace legislation.
- Support company structure, reporting lines, job descriptions, and internal HR documentation.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, candidate communication, and offer preparation.
- Create and improve recruitment processes for current and future hiring needs.
- Prepare employment agreements, offer letters, onboarding packages, and new hire documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding and ensure new employees are properly introduced to company policies, expectations, and procedures.
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Act as the first point of contact for employee HR-related questions.
- Support management with employee relations matters, attendance, performance concerns, workplace issues, and documentation.
- Help create performance review processes, probation review templates, and employee communication procedures.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and consistency in all HR matters.
Payroll, Benefits & Compliance Coordination
- Coordinate payroll-related information, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, vacation, leaves, and employee updates.
- Support the setup and administration of employee benefits once implemented.
- Track vacation, leaves, attendance, and other employee-related records.
- Support workplace health and safety administration, training records, and compliance documentation.
Building HR Processes from Scratch
- Identify gaps in HR operations and create practical solutions.
- Build simple, clear, and organized HR systems suitable for a growing company.
- Create templates, trackers, checklists, employee communications, and internal procedures.
- Support the company’s growth by helping establish professional and scalable HR practices.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR operations role.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards and basic HR compliance requirements.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee documentation, HR administration, and employee relations.
- Experience in a start-up, small business, manufacturing, technical, or growing company environment is an asset.
- CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is considered an asset.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not someone who waits for instructions on every task. This person should be able to come into a growing organization, assess what is missing, organize HR processes, and take initiative to build structure. They should be mature, reliable, and comfortable being the main HR point of contact for the company.
Compensation
Salary will be between $50,000 and $70,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
