We are a growing Ontario-based trucking company seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Administrator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced transportation environment and has experience managing payroll for hourly drivers, owner-operators, and office staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly/weekly payroll for company drivers, owner-operators, and administrative staff
- Calculate driver pay based on mileage, loads, hourly rates, and applicable rate sheets
- Manage owner-operator settlements, deductions, and statements
- Administer source deductions (CPP, EI, income tax) and remit to CRA on schedule
- Prepare and file ROEs, T4s, and year-end payroll reporting
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Process invoices, driver advances, fuel cards, and expense reports
- Maintain accurate records in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and TMS
- Assist with month-end close, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment standards and CRA payroll requirements
- Respond to payroll inquiries from drivers and staff
Qualifications
- 1+ years of payroll and accounting experience (transportation/trucking industry an asset)
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, CRA remittances, and Ontario ESA
- Experience with owner-operator settlements strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage 50, or similar) and MS Excel
- Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) an asset
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation a plus
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills
Pay: $4,000.00-$5,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
