Fashion Showroom Host & Merchandising Assistant
Part-Time | 5-Month Fixed-Term Position | September 2026 – January 2027

We're looking for someone who loves fashion, retail, creativity and the idea of making a shop feel special.
This is not a traditional cashier or stock-room position.
We're looking for someone who can host our showroom — someone we can trust with the space during scheduled showroom hours who enjoys talking fashion & beauty with customers, merchandising a rack, changing a display, styling an outfit, learning about Canadian beauty products and finding something productive to work on without needing to be given a constant list of tasks.
If you love sustainable fashion, resale, sewing, making things, visual merchandising or small independent shops, you may be exactly who we're looking for.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll help host and operate the Coco Armadio showroom during scheduled hours, including:
- Welcoming customers and creating a relaxed, personal shopping experience
- Helping customers with clothing, styling, sizing and fit
- Learning about the brands and products we carry
- Wearing and becoming familiar with merchandise carried in the showroom
- Using Square Retail and a tablet to process purchases and manage basic retail tasks
- Creatively merchandising clothing and accessories
- Updating racks, displays and showroom layouts
- Preparing the showroom for events and special shopping days
- Hosting and assisting with Sip & Shop events
- Sorting, hanging, steaming and organizing clothing
- Packing purchases and orders
- Keeping the showroom clean, organized and customer-ready
- Sweeping and completing everyday shop maintenance
- Comfortably moving throughout the showroom, including regularly using stairs

Who We're Looking For
We're especially interested in someone who is:
- Genuinely interested in fashion and personal style
- Excited about sustainable fashion, resale and giving clothing another life
- Creative and visually minded
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Confident making reasonable decisions without needing constant direction
- Friendly, conversational and comfortable hosting customers
- Comfortable with technology, tablets and Square Retail
- Comfortable working with clothing, displays and merchandise
- Able to comfortably and regularly go up and down stairs
- Reliable and able to take ownership of scheduled showroom hours
- Interested in working with a small, growing independent business
An interest in sewing, upcycling, art, design, making, content creation or entrepreneurship would be a great bonus.
Makers and creative entrepreneurs are welcome here. If you have your own creative projects or products, we'd love to hear about them too.
Events & Getting Around
Coco Armadio also hosts pop-ups, special events and Sip & Shop evenings.
There may be opportunities for additional event hours, including preparing for events, purchasing approved event supplies using a provided budget, transporting supplies and helping host.
Because some responsibilities may involve local errands or events, a valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation are required.
Any alcohol-related duties will be assigned and carried out only in accordance with applicable Ontario requirements and event licensing.
Compensation
$18.00/hour
Plus Coco Dollars — merchandise credits earned through eligible shifts that can be used toward qualifying products in the showroom.
Coco Dollars are an additional perk and are separate from hourly wages.
Additional hours may also become available for events, pop-ups and special projects.
The Contract
This is a five-month fixed-term employment position, running from September 2026 through January 2027.
We're intentionally starting with a defined five-month commitment.
But we're also looking to get back to a larger space. We miss our full studio & boutique.
Coco Armadio is actively exploring its next location and larger retail/warehouse opportunities, along with more events and new projects.
For the right person, completing this contract could lead to opportunities to apply to join us for future locations, events and projects in 2027.
There is no guarantee of employment beyond the fixed term — but we'd love to find someone who becomes part of where Coco Armadio goes next.
This Probably Isn't the Right Position If...
You're looking primarily for a cashier position, prefer being given a defined task list throughout every shift, or aren't particularly interested in fashion, beauty and the creative side of retail.
We're looking for someone who walks into the showroom and thinks:
“What can I do with this space today?”
