Project Controller
Pay Rate: $66.05–$80.59/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 52 Weeks
Location: Lloydminster, Saskatchewan (Remote with onsite requirements)
Raise is currently hiring a Project Controller on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their project controls team to support upcoming turnaround and major outage activities, making this an excellent opportunity to contribute to large-scale industrial projects while working closely with project management, finance, scheduling, operations, and contractors. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Project Controller supports the Project Manager throughout turnaround and major outage activities by providing cost tracking, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis. This role is responsible for maintaining an Excel-based cost control model that integrates SAP actuals, contractor Labor, Equipment and Material (LEM) data, and schedule progress to accurately track project costs against budget and forecast final costs.
The successful candidate will validate contractor costs, monitor spending trends, track workforce performance, and align cost reporting with schedule progress. This position plays a key role in identifying cost risks, supporting project decision-making, and ensuring effective financial management throughout the outage lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Cost Control & Financial Management

Maintain and update project cost control models and reporting tools.

Track actual costs against approved budgets and purchase orders.

Develop and maintain forecast-at-completion cost projections.

Monitor spending trends and identify potential cost overruns and financial risks.

Reconcile SAP cost data with contractor records and project forecasts.

Support project management with accurate and timely financial analysis.
Contractor Cost & Workforce Tracking

Collect, review, and validate contractor LEM submissions for accuracy and alignment with approved scope and schedule.

Track contractor timesheets and labour records.

Monitor workforce counts and generate productivity and burn-rate reports.

Communicate expectations and requirements related to cost and timesheet submissions with vendors and contractors.
Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination

Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports.

Compile and incorporate safety metrics and operational statistics provided by project teams.

Participate in daily turnaround and project coordination meetings.

Work closely with Project Managers, Schedulers, Planners, Contractors, Operations, and Finance teams.

Provide accurate cost and performance information to support project decisions.
Qualifications

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:

Strong SAP experience is required.

Experience supporting industrial turnarounds, outages, maintenance events, or capital projects.

Strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of cost, labour, and schedule data.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
