We are looking for a Corporate Tax Assistant to join our team and support our rapidly growing business. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and interested in managing complex tax matters. As a Corporate Tax Assistant (SR&ED) you will support the Sr. SR&ED Administrator / Tax Specialist with the analysis and assessment of large volumes of complex corporate client tax returns. The successful candidate will possess a natural interest and passion for matters relating to corporate taxes. Throughout your role, you will work with our clients, that claim SR&ED tax credits.
Job Specifications/Key Responsibilities:
- Generate client tax analysis documents related to approved SR&ED tax credits and financial schedules.
- Study tax documents and produce standardized internal reports with findings
- Find and report on tax discrepancies
- Perform tax analysis tasks and report timely results to SR&ED consultants
- Communicate with the CRA on complex tax matters
- Communicate with outside accounting firms and accountants on complex tax matters, including adjustments, discrepancies, and other common areas of tax compliance
- Assist and participate in internal tax-related projects or other duties as necessary.
- Participate fully as a member of the team, promote team effectiveness and contribute to a positive work environment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1 to 2 years of relevant corporate accounting or tax services experience
- Enrolled or working towards admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
- A strong desire to develop a career in Corporate Tax.
- Knowledge of corporate tax principles
- Superior attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
- Diligent and Professional, as our work is deadline driven and confidential
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Collaborative, with the ability to assist our clients and our corporate tax team professionals
- Working knowledge of any of the typical corporate tax preparation modules (TaxPrep, CanTax, TaxCycle, Profile, etc), considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and ability to grasp new technology
- Strong analytical capabilities, especially MS Excel skills
- Strong commitment to professional client service excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with SR&ED tax laws and regulations is considered an asset
- Experience with SR&ED claim preparation would be an asset
- Experience in a professional services firm would be an asset
- Desire to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a high-performing team
