Purpose
To support and oversee the daily bar and restaurant operations at The Albion Rooms Ottawa, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while reflecting the values, service philosophy, and offerings of The Albion Rooms.
The Albion Rooms: An exceptional, local, day and evening destination bar and restaurant (which just happens to be in a hotel) that is relaxed, honest, and affordable. The Albion Rooms showcases the very best seasonal produce with an expertly crafted drinks list. Our focus in all that we do is high value, core ingredients, and storytelling around a love of and dedication to Ottawa.
Accountabilities
- Promote the food and beverage concepts of The Albion Rooms with passion and enthusiasm to guests and team members.
- Lead by example and support the team in delivering exceptional service and memorable guest experiences.
- Assist in supervising daily restaurant and bar operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Engage with guests throughout their dining experience, responding to feedback and resolving concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Encourage team members to share their knowledge and confidently guide guests through menu and beverage selections.
- Support the training, coaching, and development of team members to maintain high service standards.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
- Ensure service delivery and product presentation consistently meet established quality standards.
- Monitor and uphold cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and food safety standards throughout the restaurant and bar.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and shift reporting as required.
- Support inventory controls and communicate stock shortages or operational concerns to management.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of food, beverage, and service offerings and remain informed on industry trends.
- Support initiatives that promote The Albion Rooms within the local Ottawa hospitality community.
- Work collaboratively with hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years' experience in a food and beverage operation of a similar standard, with previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, spirits, and beer.
- Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate and support team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in English; bilingualism in French is considered an asset.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a hands-on leadership style.
