General Labourer – Utility Construction Division
Location: Ottawa, Ont.

Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Wage Range: $25–$30 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
KU Power Group is hiring for the position of General Labourer within our Utility Construction Division. Position Overview
Reporting to the Foreman, the General Labourer will assist with the installation of underground utility infrastructure. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Setting concrete structures
- Installing underground duct systems
- Placing cables
- Standing poles
Position Requirements
- Previous construction experience, preferably in buried utilities
- Valid G Driver’s License (or higher) with a clean driving abstract
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, as required
- Proficient in basic internet and email use
- Strong verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to safely lift up to 70 lbs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
In This Role, You Will Gain Experience In:
- Working safely around heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, backhoes, dozers, dump trucks)
- Using laser levels and grading equipment
- Operating hand tools (shovels, rakes) and power tools (saws, drills, tampers)
- Assisting in general site preparation and clean-up
- Safely loading/unloading vehicles with equipment and materials
- Identifying health and safety hazards on site
- Performing well under pressure and time constraints
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings
- Performing landscaping restoration
- Other duties as assigned
