Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and detail-oriented Server to join our front-of-house team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate a strong knowledge of our Japanese menu (including sushi, traditional hot dishes, sake, and pairings), and uphold the principles of Japanese hospitality (Omotenashi)—anticipating guest needs and creating a welcoming, respectful dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Service & Hospitality:
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival with traditional greetings (e.g., Irasshaimase).
- Present menus, answer questions, and make thoughtful recommendations regarding ingredients, preparation styles, and potential allergens.
- Guide guests through the menu structure (e.g., ordering sequencing for sushi vs. kitchen dishes).
- Order Management & Service:
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using our POS system.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring dishes are presented beautifully and at the correct temperature.
- Clear tables efficiently between courses (busing) without rushing the guests.
- Beverage Knowledge:
- Provide basic recommendations for Japanese beers, whiskeys, and sake.
- Understand and explain different types of sake (e.g., Junmai, Ginjo, Daiginjo) and serve them at the appropriate temperature (chilled or warm).
- Restaurant Maintenance:
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift side duties (setting up tables, polishing glassware/chopsticks, restocking soy sauce dispensers and condiments).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dining area and server station.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with kitchen staff and sushi chefs regarding special requests, dietary restrictions, or pacing of the meal.
- Assist teammates during busy hours to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
