Job Summary
Join our maintenance team at the Talisman Building as a full-time, permanent HVAC Mechanic. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical systems throughout the property, helping to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, respond to service requests, and assist with the general upkeep of building mechanical systems. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work independently.
Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and building mechanical systems
- Install, maintain, and overhaul heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
- Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions, including heat pumps and air handling equipment
- Inspect, test, and recharge refrigerant systems in accordance with applicable regulations
- Start up and commission new or repaired equipment and check for proper operation and leaks
- Measure, plan, and prepare installation layouts for mechanical components
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and tenant service requests
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Work collaboratively with the property management and maintenance teams to support building operations
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC Technician or Mechanic with a strong background in HVAC systems maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of plumbing, welding techniques, boiler operation, and appliance repair is highly desirable
- Familiarity with construction environments and ability to interpret schematics is essential
- Previous experience working with mechanical systems in commercial or residential settings preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various job sites while adhering to safety protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's licence with reliable transportation
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, ventilation, and mechanical equipment
- Ability to safely lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work
- Steel-toed safety boots and other required personal protective equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality workmanship
Pay: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
