Handyman / General Maintenance Technician
Location: Surrey, BC (Travel throughout British Columbia as required)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00–$40.00 per hour (Based on experience)
About the Role
K4 Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Handyman / General Maintenance Technician to perform construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance work across commercial, institutional, healthcare, and residential projects throughout British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general construction, repair, and maintenance work.
- Install, patch, tape, sand, and finish drywall.
- Complete interior and exterior painting, touch-ups, and repairs.
- Perform wood and steel stud framing, blocking, and minor carpentry.
- Install and repair doors, frames, locks, hardware, trim, and baseboards.
- Install cabinets, shelving, millwork, and finish carpentry components.
- Install and repair laminate, vinyl plank, tile, and other flooring systems.
- Complete minor plumbing fixture installations and repairs (within permitted limits).
- Perform basic electrical-related tasks where legally permitted.
- Carry out demolition, site preparation, material handling, and cleanup.
- Read and interpret drawings, work orders, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools.
- Provide daily work updates and progress photos.
- Follow all WorkSafeBC regulations and K4 Construction safety policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of handyman, renovation, maintenance, or construction experience.
- Experience with drywall, painting, carpentry, flooring, doors, hardware, millwork, and basic plumbing.
- Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Own basic hand tools (preferred).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
Preferred Certifications
- WHMIS 2015
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (or higher)
- Fall Protection
- Elevated Work Platform / Scissor Lift / Boom Lift
- Confined Space Awareness
- Respirator Fit Test (where required)
