Responsibilities
Operation and set-up of CNC lathes and Mills with a variety of controls both conversational and with G-Code. Inspection, measurement and documentation of manufacturing dimensions and processes.
The nerdy stuff
Located off the Whitemud beside Mazak.
We do our CAD modelling in Inventor or Fusion 360, CNC programming is done using a mix of Esprit Edge, and Fusion 360 some Okuma IGF, and Siemens conversational.
The machinery:
2014 - DMG Mori NTX2000|1500SZ - Full simultaneous 5-axis with B head, two channel CNC with lower turret and sub spindle, 1000 PSI 4 GPM coolant.
2022 - Okuma LB3000-EXII-800-MYW - Single upper turret, twin spindle, Y-axis live-tool CNC lathe, 1000 PSI 8 GPM coolant.
2021 - Okuma LB3000-EXII-800-MYW - Single upper turrent, twin spindle, Y-axis live-tool CNC lathe, LNS Servo barfeeder, and Productive Robotics OB7MAX12 collaborative robot, 1000 PSI 16 GPM coolant.
2019 - HAAS VF2SSYT - 4-axis mill
2013 - Hyundai L400LC - 2 axis FANUC lathe with steadyrest and tailstock.
2013 - Hyundai L400 - 2 axis FANUC lathe with steadyrest and tailstock
2011 - Okuma Genos 400L - 2 axis lathe with tailstock
2004 - Hyundai HiT250 - 2 axis Siemens lathe with tailstock
All machines are outfitted with mist and oil collection.
Competencies:
- Working knowledge of ISO G-Code.
- Working knowledge of various grades and heat treatments of metals, identification, mechanical properties and machinability.
- Proficient in the fine tuning of the machining parameters.
- Proficient with reading & interpreting manufacturing drawings, Imperial and Metric dimensioning systems, symbols including but not limited to: Geometrical tolerances, isometric views, section-views, surface finish requirements, limits and fits.
- Able to work with tight tolerances both in surface quality and geometric dimensioning.
- Inspection and record keeping in line with quality assurance requirements.
- Working knowledge and experience with metrology equipment.
- Proficient with machinist math.
- Versed in troubleshooting and debugging manufacturing processes.
- Perform and keep up with preventative maintenance and cleaning on machinery, tools, and the shop itself.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and willingness to work within compliance with Alberta OH&S act.
Required Tools:
- CSA approved safety boots
Qualifications:
- Manual machining knowledge an asset
- Red Seal Journeyman Certificate an asset, experience taken in lieu
