Gourmet Chef is a division of Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (TSX: PBH) which owns a broad range of leading specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses with operations.
We are seeking dynamic individuals that can work with the Quality Assurance department, ensuring that the facility is in compliance with regulatory and food safety standards.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Lead the quality process within the plant, overseeing the government requirements for the HACCP/FSEP/QMP program with an in-depth knowledge of production and quality systems
- Identify and coordinate quality initiatives and decision making with senior management, other departmental supervisors in order to ensure that food safety is not compromised
- Prepare food safety risk analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions
- Designated SQF practitioner and responsible to ensure the SQF systems are developed, implemented, reviewed and maintained
- Provide leadership to the quality department development and implementation on appropriate training programs for various functions and food safety
- Liaise with CFIA in-house inspector to comply with food safety and other regulatory requirements
- Ensure all document supporting Meat Hygiene Manual, FSEP Manual and QMP Manual are complete and accurate, and leads to document control in the plant
- Lead the internal audit/re-assessment process to determine the effectiveness of the quality program and identify potential health and hygiene issues for immediate resolution and continuous improvement
- Assist in the development of accident prevention and compliance programs and assists in risk identification, taking appropriate action to minimize risk
- Perform validation of prerequisite and HACCP Plans
- Review product specifications and process meeting with quality assurance operational objectives, audit and regulatory requirements
- Prepare the audit documentation and participate in customer, government and third party audit
- Implement the quality processes in production, meeting customer and quality standards
- Oversee validation of the quality process and new product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards
- Oversee the non-compliance practices, non-conformances product and product complaint and ensure quick and thorough investigation and take prompt corrective actions
- Maintain and update GMP policies and procedures and the quality assurance program
- Supervise technicians and other staff in Quality Assurance Department and provide feedback, guidance and coaching
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- Shift time: 10am to 6pm
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree in Food Science or Food Technology and HACCP or other food safety training
- Minimum of 5 years in quality managerial role in a food processing environment
- Strong knowledge of GMP policies and procedures, SQF standards, CFIA food safety programs, quality assurance programs and government regulatory compliance
- Previous experience in federal meat facility is an asset
- Strong supervisory and problem solving skills
- Must be detail and result oriented and organizational skills
- Fluent in written and oral English. Knowledge of other languages such as Mandarin/ Cantonese would be an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
