WOLF is looking for a full-time Sr. Engineer, Hardware based in Aurora, ON (hybrid). Though this is a hybrid position, you may be required to work on-site for an indefinite length of time based on business needs, such as during bring-up periods.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Engineering (NPI HW/PCB/DV), you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and development of complex mixed-signal hardware systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and successful product integration.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for driving the creation and implementation of innovative hardware solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading the design and development of mixed-signal hardware systems according to product specifications
- Developing comprehensive hardware functional specifications to align with product characteristics
- Translating product requirements into complete hardware designs, including sub-systems
- Conducting feasibility studies and selecting components to meet technical, cost, and operational needs
- Implementing circuit schematics and troubleshooting hardware designs using appropriate lab tools
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and maintaining necessary documentation
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software, firmware, and PCB engineers, to ensure product functionality
- Managing hardware bring-up and performing detailed circuit analysis
- Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence
- Managing relationships with third-party design companies and overseeing subcontracted deliverables
- Providing updates and technical documentation both internally and externally to customers
- Identifying areas for design performance improvement through product testing and analysis

To qualify, you will need a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with 10+ years of hands-on experience in the design and development of mixed-signal hardware systems.
WOLF is a military and aerospace manufacturer requiring strict adherence to CGP and ITAR requirements. As a condition of employment, applicants must be able to provide valid documentation to show Canadian or US citizenship or Canadian Permanent Residency and undergo a police check with no criminal background.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing with high-speed interfaces, including PCIe Gen4, DDR4, and GDDR6
- Proven experience with video standards such as SMPTE-424M (3G-SDI), SMPTE ST-2082 (12G-SDI), DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, DVI, RS170, and STANAG 3350
- Extensive knowledge of serial communication protocols, including UART, SPI, and I2C
- Solid understanding of power distribution networks and multi-phase configurations
- Expert proficiency with Cadence OrCAD Capture 17.4 and 23.1
- Demonstrated expertise in product configuration management and product lifecycle management
- Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing cost factors and fabrication processes
- Proven ability in signal integrity analysis and configuration management
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English
- Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering or a related field (asset)
- Industry specific experience with VPX (46.x, 65.x), XMC (42.x, 61.0, 88.0), MXM standards (asset)
- Familiarity with layout design tools, with preference for Allegro PCB Editor (asset)
- Experience with signal integrity analysis and configuration management (asset)
- Experience with NVIDIA and/or AMD GPUs (asset)
