Summary
We are seeking a seasoned, detail-driven Senior Sign Fabricator & Welder to lead custom builds from raw material to finished product. This is not an assembly-line role; you will handle bespoke architectural signage, illuminated pylons, structural frames, and custom enclosures.
You must be fully self-directed, capable of taking a set of approved engineering drawings, performing your own material take-offs, and building structural sign assemblies with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Print Interpretation & Planning: Accurately read, decipher, and build directly from structural blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering schematics.
- Material Take-Offs: Calculate precise cut lists, material yields, and consumable requirements to minimize shop waste.
- Welding & Metal Fabrication: Fit, tack, and weld aluminum (TIG/MIG), mild steel (MIG/Stick), and stainless steel structures to high aesthetic and structural standards.
- Sheet Metal & Forming: Shear, brake, notch, roll, and route aluminum and steel sheet/extrusions.
- Illumination & Component Prep: Fabricate internal framing and raceways designed to accommodate LED lighting systems, power supplies, and mounting hardware.
- Quality & Independence: Manage projects through the fabrication queue independently, troubleshooting fitment issues and verifying square, plumb, and tolerance standards before handoff to finishing/installation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on custom sign fabrication experience (or heavy architectural sheet metal/structural fabrication).
- Advanced Applied Math Skills: Must excel at shop math, fractional geometry, trigonometry, and precise layout/take-off calculations. (Practical assessment will be part of the interview process).
- Multi-Metal Welding Proficiency: Proven capability welding aluminum, steel, and stainless steel (clean, structural-grade welds with minimal heat distortion).
- Independent Problem Solver: Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and execute complex builds end-to-end.
- Language & Communication: Strong English proficiency (written and verbal) to interpret technical specs, communicate clearly with project managers, and mark up shop drawings.
- Equipment Mastery: Confident operating standard shop machinery (press brakes, shears, ironworkers, cold saws, plasma cutters).
- Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in Canada.
What We Offer
- Full-time, steady year-round work (40 hours/week).
- Comprehensive health, dental, and extended health benefits.
- Modern, fully equipped shop with high-grade fabrication tools.
- Respect for your craft—autonomous work environment with direct input on build methodology.
