Educational Assistant
Koinonia Christian Schools Red Deer is seeking Educational Assistants to join our Christ-centred school community for the 2026–2027 school year.
Educational Assistants work alongside teachers and school staff to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and youth and want to make a meaningful difference in a Christian school environment.
Responsibilities
Educational Assistants may:
- Provide individual or small-group support to students
- Assist students with academic learning, organization, communication, and classroom participation
- Support students with diverse learning, behavioural, physical, or social-emotional needs
- Help students develop confidence, independence, self-regulation, and positive relationships
- Assist teachers with implementing individualized learning and support plans
- Encourage positive peer relationships and an inclusive classroom environment
- Supervise and support students during transitions, recess, activities, field trips, and other school events
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other members of the student-support team
- Model patience, compassion, integrity, encouragement, and Christ-like character
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have a personal Christian faith and are supportive of the mission, values, and Statement of Faith of Koinonia Christian Schools
- Enjoy working with children and youth
- Are patient, dependable, flexible, and able to build positive relationships with students
- Work well as part of a collaborative team
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
An Educational Assistant Certificate or related education and experience is an asset, but we also welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience in education, youth work, ministry, disability support, childcare, or other student-support settings.
Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is considered an asset.
