SUMMARY:
Welded Tube of Canada is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to support its Concord transportation operations. This is a six (6) month contract role, which may turn into a permanent position. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating truck shipments throughout North America, maintaining carrier relationships, securing transportation capacity, resolving transportation issues, and ensuring on-time delivery performance.
This position requires a hands-on logistics professional with 5+ years of dispatch experience and strong transportation industry knowledge. The individual will work closely with Sales, Production, Customer Service, Shipping, and external transportation providers to ensure efficient movement of products while maintaining excellent customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collaborate with Shipping, Production Planning, and Customer Service teams to support daily operating requirements.
· Secure carrier capacity for customer shipments and intercompany transfers.
· Schedule and dispatch truckload, LTL, and specialized equipment as required.
· Maintain and communicate delivery schedules, delays, and transportation updates to customers and sales personnel using Descartes MacroPoint, ERP and dispatching tools/software.
· Monitor and proactively resolve transportation disruptions, delays, and service issues.
· Expedite urgent customer orders and production-related shipments.
· Maintain relationships with approved transportation providers.
· Minimize transportation costs through strategic carrier selection and load planning.
· Monitor carrier performance and communicate service concerns.
· Support carrier compliance with company transportation requirements.
· Support freight invoice verification and discrepancy resolution.
· Maintain transportation records and documentation.
· Generate logistics reports and performance metrics as required.
· Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and service levels to achieve Logistics KPI’s.
WORKING HOURS:
This position is primarily a Monday to Friday Day Shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch – However the applicant must be available and flexible to work afternoon shifts, including occasional overtime and weekend work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 5 years of transportation dispatcher experience in fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, transportation systems and reporting tools.
· Knowledge of cross-border transportation and customs processes.
· Completion of post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
· Transportation planning or scheduling experience.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
