This position supports Registration desks within the Medicine, GI (ZLC) and Senior’s clinic portfolio and the wider KEC site. Duties include, but are not limited to, booking patients in, answering phones, confirming appointments, clerical duties, room booking allocations and payroll. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Unit Clerk, Medical Office Assistant Program or Medical Terminology or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population. Ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Must be able to multitask in a busy and fast paced environment. Ability to lift, move, push and pull office equipment and supplies. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and performing repetitive tasks. Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting. Experience with connect care in ambulatory environment.
