Position Summary
Our Emergency Roadside Service (ERS) Drivers are roadside heroes. Combining superior customer service skills with mechanical and technical aptitude, our ERS drivers are true brand ambassadors.
Positions on our fleet range from first response CAA battery service and towing service utilizing wreckers and flat beds – all with the same goal, to get our members on the go.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding Member Service and act as an ambassador for CAA Niagara.
- Drive a CAA Niagara fleet owned service vehicle to service members and/or customers in response to dispatch calls.
- Assess and provide basic roadside service to vehicles including lockouts, battery testing and replacement, fixing of tire, replacement of tire(s), hookup to wrecker (use of dolly wheels required), load vehicles on flatbed truck.
- Requires use of upper body with activities throughout day, including lifting hood of vehicles, lifting batteries into vehicles, ratcheting, pulling chains and straps, reaching under vehicles
- Requires use of lower body with activities throughout day, including crouching, kneeling to reach under vehicles, climbing in and out of vehicles, working on uneven terrain, stepping up on trucks, walking.
- Adhere to all applicable safety standards, internal policies/procedures and laws while operating a fleet vehicle.
- Must have ability to cross-train and be assigned, or reassigned, light service vehicle, tow-truck or flatbed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work fleet vehicle by properly performing the daily circle check and completing necessary daily inspections
- Use of basic computer technology: company provided tablet that provides all information to properly arrive, clear and move to next calls, as well as communicate with dispatch and management.
- Maintain productivity goals set by management.
This is not an exhaustive list and other duties may be assigned as permanent or temporary, where needs are required.
Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFOR)
- Must have valid class G driver's license
- Must have ability to lift up to 70 lbs and bend, twist, kneel, push, pull throughout the day (all truck types have been assessed as ‘heavy’ physical requirement.
- Must having ability to obtain and maintain towing licenses (includes annual background checks and drivers’ abstract review)
- Must have clean driver’s abstract to maintain coverage with Company insurance company
Education & Experience
- Mechanical and/or Technical aptitude: Able to understand the basics of a vehicle and differences in order to deliver proper service
- 2+ years of customer experience
- Previous towing experience considered an asset
Working Conditions
- 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays
- Working outside in all weather conditions and inclement weather
