We require a qualified individual to support Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) students enabling them to maximize their field placement learning experiences. The successful candidate will work with students leveraging best practices, strategies, and resources pertaining to securing, maintaining, and navigating field placements.
Supplementing class material for student use as it relates to field placements
Leveraging assistive technologies to help student(s) in the Field Placement process
Developing skills profile for each student for each of their Field Placements
Providing academic and Field Placement advising and developing the connections between student(s) area of focus and Field Placement
Directing students to access appropriate college resources (i.e. Financial Aid, Accessibility Services, Counselling)
Arranging field placements, recommending to the Manager and confirming details
Providing a smooth transition into college/academic life
Promoting inclusion of CICE student in Field Placement and College events
Working with instructors and Learning Strategists to connect class content and field placement learning
Collaborating with CICE team, including Program Manager and Learning Strategists to share strategies and create resources for student success
Identifying needs and accommodations required for each individual student registered in the CICE program
Collaborating with manager and Learning Strategist team to identify student needs/strategies for success with Field Placement plan
Sharing student Field Placement progress through team meetings
Supporting student orientation at the placement, as required
Attending placement with student to liaise between student/site supervisor and provide required support to the student
Conducting interviews and student orientation and/or information sessions
Promoting the program to local and regional agencies, schools, employers and/or businesses
Tracking/filing and recording program and field placement documents and other pertinent program information for future reference by staff
Three-year Diploma/Degree in a field such as Education, Disability Studies, or a related field
Three years of practical experience supporting students with significant learning challenges.
Experience supporting students in Post-Secondary Education an asset
Demonstrated computer literacy
Experience supporting students in using adaptive technology
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Creative problem solving skills and flexibility
Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively multi-task
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
