We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying joint compound and finishing drywall surfaces to create smooth, seamless walls and ceilings. This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment. Prior construction experience and familiarity with various finishing techniques are highly valued. The Drywall Taper plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality finishes for residential and commercial projects.
Duties
- Apply joint compound to drywall seams, corners, and fasteners using taping knives and trowels
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or further finishing
- Install corner beads and other finishing accessories as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications to ensure proper application techniques
- Caulk joints and seams for enhanced durability and aesthetic appeal
- Maintain a clean work area, ensuring tools and materials are organized and safe
- Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other trades to meet project deadlines
- Assist with minor carpentry or handyman tasks related to drywall installation or finishing when required
Skills
- Experience with construction painting, carpentry, or handyman work is preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, especially drywall finishing techniques
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Proficiency in caulking, taping, sanding, and surface preparation methods
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail for achieving smooth finishes
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift materials, and perform repetitive motions effectively
