Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive, skilled, and responsible Restaurant Equipment Maintenance Technician / Handyperson to join our team. In this vital role, you will maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a wide range of restaurant equipment and store facilities. Your expertise will ensure that our coffee makers, food prep tools, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems operate smoothly—supporting our commitment to delivering great guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Care & Repair: Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, cleaning, calibration, and repairs on key restaurant equipment (e.g., Panini presses, toasters, hot holding units, cream/sugar machines, coffee makers, refrigeration, and prep appliances).
- Troubleshooting & Technical Work: Safely diagnose electrical systems, mechanical devices, and plumbing issues to minimize operational downtime.
- Manuals & Schematics: Read, interpret, and follow equipment manuals, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics to complete repairs correctly and safely.
- Building & Exterior Care: Complete basic building repairs, painting, assembly of new store fixtures, routine HVAC climate-control checks, and landscaping upkeep.
- Record Keeping & Safety: Maintain clear records of completed repairs, parts used, and routine inspections while ensuring all work areas meet provincial safety standards.
- Team Communication: Communicate clearly with store management regarding repair timelines and equipment needs. Perform miscellaneous maintenance duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Tim Hortons equipment and systems is a strong plus (Training Provided).
- Practical experience and working knowledge across key trade areas:
- Electrical: Ability to troubleshoot basic wiring, switches, and electrical components safely.
- Mechanical & Appliance Repair: Hands-on experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
- Plumbing: Basic pipe, fixture, and drain troubleshooting.
- Building & Landscaping: General carpentry, painting, fixture assembly, and basic exterior groundskeeping.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency with standard hand and power tools.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and multitasking abilities.
- Physical capability to lift 40+ lbs and stand, bend, or climb as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability: Must be available weekends as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay Rate: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (Starting wage scaled to experience and restaurant equipment background)
