Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities
The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the Kitchen and dining room. They will ensure dishes are cleaned to standard, surfaces are wiped down, dining hall is clean and fully stocked.
The Kitchen Assistant will also assist in preparing foods such as cutting vegetables, peeling vegetables, or traying up food for the fridge.
Under the supervision and direction of the Head Chef the Occasional Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for:
Assisting the kitchen staff in providing a clean and appetizing environment in Dining Room, setting places and buffets, assisting in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
Kitchen Assistant Duties Include:
· Setting dining room tables and buffet tables.
· Serve food with the cook and be available to answer questions.
· Clear and wipe dining room tables, coffee counter, and buffet tables.
· Check and stock, coffee, tea, creamers, etc.
· Wash dishes in automatic dishwasher, air dry and put all dishes away.
· Take all clean New Hall dishes to New Hall kitchen and wipe off counters and stove as necessary.
· Sweep and mop kitchen floor, storage rooms, pantry and walk-in.
· When housekeeping staff are not on duty, sweep and spot mop dining floor as needed.
· Other light duties when assigned by cook including preparing salads or vegetables, baking desserts.
· Heavy and deep cleaning as assigned.
· Properly dispose of garbage, compost, and recycling.
· Simple preparation of food by peeling, shredding, chopping, etc.
· Proper usage and storage of cleaning chemicals in compliance with WHMIS practices and standards.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
