Position Summary
At Ardia Care Homes, our Health Care Aides are the heart of the home. This role is focused on delivering high-quality, person-centered care in a small, intimate environment where relationships, dignity, and quality of life come first.
Our model supports a caregiver-to-resident ratio of approximately 1:3.5, allowing for meaningful engagement, attentive care, and the ability to truly know each resident.
We are looking for individuals who bring compassion, reliability, and a consistently positive attitude to their work every day.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Care
- Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing, dressing, grooming
- Toileting and continence care
- Mobility and transfers (using safe lifting techniques)
- Support residents with feeding and hydration as required
- Monitor and report changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition
- Promote resident independence wherever possible
Companionship & Quality of Life
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and families
- Engage residents in conversation, activities, and daily routines
- Support emotional well-being, especially for residents experiencing cognitive decline
- Assist in creating a warm, home-like environment
Nutrition & Meal Preparation
- Assist with meal planning and preparation
- Love to cook and take pride in preparing nutritious, home-style meals
- Accommodate dietary needs and preferences
- Support residents during mealtimes to ensure a positive dining experience
Household Support
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment
- Light housekeeping duties including laundry, tidying, and sanitation
- Ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document care provided and observations
- Communicate effectively with LPN/RN and other team members
- Participate in care planning and team discussions
- Follow all policies aligned with AHS and Accreditation Canada standards
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certified Health Care Aide (recognized in Alberta)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience working with seniors and/or dementia care preferred
- Physically able to perform job duties

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Experience:
- Dementia care: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- HCAs must hold a valid permit with the CLHA (required)
