Skilled Handyman
Purpose:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Skilled Handyman to join our residential construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, proven experience in low-rise residential construction, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to support project success.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks for all aspects of the home. From foundation to finishing, including carpentry, caulking, general repair, and detailing.
- Assist site supervisors with construction activities, with tasks completed efficiently and safely.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining clean, organized work sites before, during and after construction.
- Follow detailed instructions from supervisors and communicate effectively to clarify tasks and expectations.
- Maintain strict adherence to health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate as required in workplace Health and Safety procedures and initiatives.
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
- Maintains excellent attendance, reliability, and punctuality to support team efficiency
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Proven ability to work independently and adapt to changing project needs.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle (required for site mobility).
- Up-to-date Health and Safety Training.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship with all finishing materials.
- Must wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions and have their own safety boots
- Need to be proficient in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools
- Refined carpentry skills are essential to the position
- Solid understanding of residential construction methods and materials is an asset
- Must supply and maintain own set of hand and power tools required for the role
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and site specifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in residential construction (low-rise preferred).
- Diploma in Architecture or a Construction-related program (college level) preferred
