Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, dispense, and label prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
- Assist in managing inventory levels, including stocking shelves and ordering medications as needed
- Verify prescription information, medical terminology, and dosage instructions for accuracy and safety
- Maintain detailed records of medication administration, prescription processing, and inventory transactions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions or address medication concerns
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety protocols at all times
Minimum Qualifications:
- This position requires that the incumbent to be currently registered as a pharmacy technician with the PEI College of Pharmacists (as outlined in the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Regulations).
- Successful completion of Grade 12.
- A working knowledge of computers and pharmacy related software.
- Neat and legible handwriting.
- The ability to make accurate mathematical calculations.
- A good previous work and attendance record.
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, retail, or clinical setting is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
- Proven ability to deliver compassionate patient care in fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations and procedures is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members
