Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 5-ton truck to transport freight to designated destinations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and secure placement of freight
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, identifying any mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs for compliance and reporting purposes
- Assist with basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical problems to minimize downtime
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly
- Follow safety protocols diligently to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues during all operations
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience operating heavy trucks, including 5-ton vehicles or similar size equipment
- Knowledge of forklift operation and freight handling techniques
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Familiarity with safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and transportation regulations
