We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Systems & Avionics Engineer based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
The Systems & Avionics Engineer provides aircraft systems and avionics technical expertise to support development, modification, and certification of our aerial firefighting systems.
In this role your duties will include the following:
- Lead the design, modification, and certification of aircraft systems, including hydraulic, electrical, and avionics, specific to aerial firefighting equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Transport Canada, FAA, and other regulatory authority such IAB (Interagency Airtanker Board).
- Prepare, review, and submit certification programs and reports to regulatory authorities, including Transport Canada, FAA, and other relevant bodies.
- Develop and/or validate system schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions for airborne equipment.
- Write and interpret aircraft system design specifications (including hydraulic, mechanical, avionics and electrical equipment)
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including structural and design engineers, to integrate systems into airtanker platforms.
- Oversee aircraft system performance analysis and troubleshoot technical issues encountered during testing or operational phases.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of design and certification in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Review customer feedback and propose innovative solutions to improve the products.

- Strong understanding of aircraft system integration and modification, specifically in specialized mission aircraft (e.g., aerial firefighting).
- Ability to write technical report to support certification process;
- Knowledge of digital instruments, digital communications and high-level navigation systems;
- TCCA delegation in electrical, avionic and/or mechanical systems is desirable.
- Professional Engineering qualification (EGBC P.Eng or equivalent) is desirable.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies in aircraft systems and avionics.
Training/Education:
- Degree in Electrical/Avionics Engineering or Diploma in Electrical/Avionics Technology;
- 3-5 years’ experience in Electrical/Avionics Engineering.
