In the 4 West Women’s Operating Room Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU), the incumbent will provide specialized post-anesthetic care to surgical and obstetrical patients. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties while providing safe and effective care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude with excellent communication, teaching, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the incumbent must have the ability to recognize and assist with the management of post-anesthetic, surgical, and obstetrical complications. The Women’s PACU provides post-anesthesia care to high-acuity patients undergoing a variety of elective and emergency procedures, including gynecology, gyne-oncology, urogynecology, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and obstetrical procedures, including Cesarean sections. PACU nurses support the post-anesthetic recovery and assessment of obstetrical patients following delivery. The Women’s PACU operates Monday to Friday with day and evening shifts. This position will support evening shifts and may include weekend and on call requirements.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least 2 years of recent PACU experience or 5 years of recent critical care experience. Only individuals who submit a resume will be considered for an interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
PACU experience in Women’s Health and/or experience caring for obstetrical patients. Provincial Peri-Anesthesia Education Program (PPEP). CNA Certification – Peri-Anesthesia Nursing Certification Canada, PANC(C).
