Role Description
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising field operations on commercial fencing and automated gate projects. This full-time, on-site position is based in Hamilton, Ontario, and requires travel to project sites throughout Southern Ontario.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day site operations from project start to completion.
- Lead and coordinate installation crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Plan labour, materials, and equipment to maintain productivity.
- Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to company quality standards.
- Conduct site safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential issues before they impact the schedule.
- Communicate with Project Managers, General Contractors, consultants, and inspectors.
- Maintain daily reports, site documentation, and quality control records.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and field coordination.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation and company policies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Site Superintendent, or Foreperson on commercial, industrial, institutional (ICI), or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with commercial fencing, automated gates, civil construction, or related trades is preferred.
- Experience installing commercial chain link fencing and high-security welded wire fence systems is considered a strong asset.
- Strong leadership and crew management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Thorough understanding of Ontario health and safety requirements.
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and digital reporting.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Southern Ontario and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
