Who is SkyBox Labs?
SkyBox Labs is a game development studio that works on some of the world’s most iconic games. The studio is currently co-developing Halo Infinite, working on projects in the Minecraft universe, supporting the dev team at Bungie on Destiny 2: Lightfall, supporting development of Fallout 76, and working on original IP. As one of Canada’s fastest-growing game studios, since our inception in 2011, SkyBox Labs has evolved from a group of 8 people to a team of over 250+ Engineers, Artists, Animators, Designers, Producers, and more! Our fast-growing game studio is looking for a Junior Accountant to contribute to the continued financial success of the company. As an aspiring CPA, you’ll work with a small team that will provide you with space to learn, grow and expand your accounting skills. Your contributions will be seen throughout our mid-sized organisation as well as by our multinational parent company, enabling you to work in a smaller environment while experiencing controls and procedures necessary for large operations.
Someone who has a good sense of humour, is dedicated to their craft, and supportive of their teammates would excel in this important role at SkyBox.

As the most junior accountant on the team, you’ll take ownership over tasks such as: accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations

Support with accrual expenses, booking monthly journal entries, GL reconciliations, prepare and update working papers, and analysis

Work closely with project leaders and operations teams to manage POs, expenses, and handle general inquiries

Complete tasks efficiently and accurately with strong attention to confidentiality and detail in the NetSuite database

Maintain coding of sales taxes and preparation of regulatory reporting (GST, PST, WorkSafeBC, Employer Health Tax)

Perform other ad hoc accounting admin tasks as needed

1-2 years of experience working in industry as an AP clerk, junior accountant, or similar role

Experience with accounts payable and bank reconciliations

Exposure to financial analysis

Working towards a CPA designation

Strong proficiency in Excel and online accounting software such as Quickbooks Online (we use NetSuite)

Exceptional attention to detail, relationship building skills, and communication skills

A team player who is willing to go where needed and work in a changing environment

Ability to work independently but as an integral member of our team, often needing to collaborate with other departments to ensure their needs are met

A self-starter with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
