With over 20 years of experience, Westcan provides hydrovac excavation, vacuum truck services, sewer flushing, environmental services, water hauling, septic services, and emergency response solutions to municipal, commercial, industrial, and energy sector clients.
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking experienced and motivated Hydrovac Operators / Vac Truck Operators to join our team. This is a full-time position offering competitive wages, overtime opportunities, and year-round employment.
Job Overview
As a Hydrovac Operator, you will safely operate and maintain hydrovac and vacuum truck equipment while performing non-destructive excavation, utility exposure, environmental cleanup, sewer and catch basin cleaning, septic services, and other industrial vacuum applications. Successful candidates must be safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working in physically demanding environments.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate hydrovac and vacuum truck equipment.
- Perform non-destructive hydro excavation and utility daylighting.
- Excavate around underground utilities, pipelines, and infrastructure.
- Complete sewer, catch basin, lift station, septic, and industrial vacuum services.
- Operate high-pressure water and vacuum systems safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily equipment inspections.
- Complete daily field reports, logbooks, inspection reports, and safety documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, customer site requirements, and OH&S regulations.
- Represent Westcan Services professionally while working at customer sites.
- Participate in after-hours and emergency call-out rotations as required.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 3A or Class 1A Driver's Licence
- Clean Driver's Abstract (No Restrictions)
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Successful completion of a Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Test
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Experience
- Previous hydrovac, vacuum truck, sewer flushing, or industrial services experience
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance experience considered an asset
Required Safety Certifications
Applicants should possess, or be willing to obtain:
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Standard First Aid & CPR
- H₂S Alive
- WHMIS 2015
- Confined Space Entry & Monitor
- Fall Protection
- CSTS 2020
- SCOT
Additional customer-specific safety certifications may be required depending on project requirements.
