The Lab is a hands-on creative and play space for children and families, bringing together science, art, slime, sensory play and making under one roof. We offer daily drop-in experiences, children’s classes and workshops, birthday parties, camps, special events and a creative Maker Space.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dependable and outgoing Guest Experience Associates to join our team.
This is a hands-on role that combines customer service, working with children, program facilitation, cleaning and organization, and day-to-day studio operations. Our Guest Experience Associates help create the welcoming, playful and creative atmosphere that families experience when they visit The Lab.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, isn't afraid to get messy, takes initiative and is comfortable jumping between different responsibilities throughout a shift. One moment you may be helping a child make slime, the next you may be welcoming a family, setting up an art activity, cleaning a sensory area or helping prepare for a birthday party.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcoming children and families and providing friendly, helpful customer service.
- Explaining The Lab's different activities, programs, classes, camps, workshops and birthday party options to guests.
- Supervising and interacting with children throughout our slime, sensory play and creative spaces.
- Helping children make slime and participate in hands-on art, science, sensory and Maker Space activities.
- Facilitating or assisting with children's classes, workshops, camps, birthday parties and special events.
- Preparing materials and setting up activities before programs and cleaning up afterward.
- Encouraging children to explore, create, experiment and problem-solve while providing appropriate support when needed.
- Operating the front desk, processing admissions and purchases, and assisting families with registrations and general questions.
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe environment throughout the studio.
- Cleaning and sanitizing tables, play areas, materials and equipment throughout the day.
- Restocking supplies and notifying management when materials or inventory are running low.
- Assisting with opening and closing duties.
- Working collaboratively with other team members to ensure programs and daily operations run smoothly.
- Following all The Lab safety, supervision and customer-service procedures.
- Taking initiative when something needs to be cleaned, restocked, organized or addressed.
Experience & Qualifications
- Have previous experience working with children in a camp, recreation, childcare, classroom, after-school program, children's entertainment or similar setting.
- Have customer service, retail, hospitality or guest-experience experience.
- Are comfortable leading or assisting with groups of children.
- Enjoy art, science, crafting, STEM, sensory play or other hands-on creative activities.
- Are energetic, friendly and confident communicating with both children and adults.
- Are patient and able to adapt to different ages, personalities and needs.
- Are dependable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Are comfortable working in a busy, active and sometimes messy children's environment.
- Are willing to clean and understand that maintaining the space is an important part of creating a great guest experience.
- Can take initiative and identify what needs to be done during quieter periods.
- Are comfortable learning new activities and programs — you do not need to be an artist or scientist! Training and program instructions will be provided.
- Are available for a combination of weekday, evening and/or weekend shifts.
Experience working with children is strongly preferred. Experience facilitating camps, birthday parties, art programs, science/STEM programs or recreational programming is an asset.
What We're Looking For
More than anything, we're looking for people who understand that The Lab is a place where kids are encouraged to explore, create, experiment and get messy.
Our team members don't simply supervise the space — they interact with our guests. We want staff who will talk with children about what they're making, help them try something new, celebrate their creations and make families feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
If you're creative, responsible, energetic and genuinely enjoy working with kids, we'd love to meet you.
