The opportunity:
Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Technologist to join our team in our Vancouver office. In this role you will be responsible for detailed design production and contract document preparation. The team you will be joining is involved in projects including smaller and larger scale municipal infrastructure projects. This includes large diameter water and wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, tunneling and other trenchless installation projects, municipal roads design, district energy piping design, hydraulic analysis, hydro energy recovery, municipal facilities and much more. What you’ll do:
- Provide strong technical capabilities using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawing production and design, as well as working with survey, LiDAR and GIS datasets.
- Work alongside engineers and other designers, provide drafting, design, figures, maps, and data analysis for a variety of projects focused on transportation and civil related infrastructure.
- Mentor and support Civil Technologists/Technicians, Designers, and Engineers.
- Support construction administration activities including site inspection, sketches, asbuilt updates and record drawings.
- Perform construction administration and undertake inspections
- Perform quality management tasks including quality control and quality assurance checks.
- Provide effective and clear communication, both verbally and in writing, with teammates, clients, contractors and sub-consultants.
Does this sound like you?
- Diploma in Civil Design/Drafting Technology from an accredited technical institution.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in computer-aided drafting and design of transportation projects, with a focus on municipal infrastructure is desired.
- Experience and Proficiency using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for detailed design, from concept through construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word and Excel).
- Experience with field work such as topographic survey, and construction inspection is an asset.
- Familiar with the British Columbia, Master Municipal Contract Documents (MMCD Contract Administration Certification is a beneficial asset.)
- Good understanding of Lower Mainland municipalities standards and supplemental specifications.
- BC MoTT Design Standards and TAC Geometric Design Guidelines is an asset.
- Trenchless design experience would be an asset.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules.
