WORKING FOREMAN — COMMERCIAL RENOVATION
"We Build Awesome"
We hire good people who share our values and want a long-term career, not just a job.
This role is a stepping stone, not a ceiling. We are looking for someone with the drive to grow into a Project Manager over time. We'll invest in the right person.
About This Role
This is a hands-on leadership role in commercial renovation construction. As Working Foreman, your primary job is to keep the crew running efficiently: reviewing blueprints, delegating tasks, coordinating trades, and removing obstacles. Once the site is running smoothly, you pick up the tools. Our foremen do a significant amount of physical work and lead from the front.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints and delegate tasks to maximize crew efficiency
- Coordinate all on-site work, subcontractors, and trade sequencing
- Facilitate on-site progress meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively before they impact schedule
- Work on the tools directly once the crew is set up and running
- Perform inventory and packing-list checks to confirm materials are correct and on site
- Identify supply shortages early and escalate to ensure timely delivery
- Coordinate with the PM on material orders and arrival timing
- Report all errors, scheduling issues, and material concerns to the PM promptly
- Provide accurate field information to support company-to-client reporting
- Collect, organize, and follow up on documentation from trades and subcontractors (certificates, sign-offs, inspection records, etc.)
- Comfortable holding trades accountable for outstanding paperwork and documentation requirements
- Maintain clear, professional communication across all project stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on commercial renovation labour experience
- Technologically capable, daily Procore use is required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Genuine interest in growing toward Project Manager
Professional Expectations
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in a similar supervisory role with direct oversight of on-site operations
- Proven hands-on labour background in commercial renovation, must be able to work alongside the crew, not just direct them
- Technologically capable and comfortable using apps and computers daily; this role requires Procore for safety forms, daily progress photos, and site documentation, candidates who struggle with technology will not be set up for success
- Takes ownership of the site, leads by example, not just by direction
- Proactive communicator who surfaces problems early and with solutions
- Positive attitude toward challenges and a constant drive to improve
- Committed to quality workmanship in everything, whether leading or on the tools
