The Opportunity
Enviro-Ex Contracting Ltd. is seeking both experienced Traffic Control Supervisors (TCS) and Traffic Control Persons (TCPs) to support traffic management operations on active construction sites throughout British Columbia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first aid coverage on active construction sites while also supporting field operations when first aid services are not required. This may include traffic control, general labour, quality control support, site documentation, safety inspections, and other duties as required by the project team.
This is a hands-on field position. Travel, remote work, extended hours, and work in varying weather conditions may be required depending on project location.
Key Responsibilities
First Aid & Emergency Response
· Provide first aid treatment and emergency response in accordance with applicable regulations, company procedures, and training.
· Maintain the site first aid room, first aid supplies, equipment, and required records.
· Assess and respond to workplace injuries and illnesses.
· Coordinate emergency response and medical transportation when required.
· Maintain accurate first aid records and documentation.
· Participate in incident investigations and provide first aid-related information as required.
· Monitor site conditions and identify potential hazards that could result in injury or illness.
· Maintain readiness to respond to emergencies throughout the workday.
Field Construction Support
When first aid coverage is not required, assist the project team with general field activities, which may include:
· General labour and site support.
· Traffic control and work zone support.
· Assisting with material handling, site preparation, and cleanup.
· Supporting crews with construction activities as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.
· Assisting with site mobilization, demobilization, and general project activities.
· Operating small tools and equipment where qualified and authorized.
· Performing other construction-related duties based on project requirements.
Traffic Control Support
Where properly trained and certified:
· Perform Traffic Control Person duties on active road construction sites.
· Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices.
· Direct and control traffic safely through construction zones.
· Follow Traffic Management Plans and site-specific traffic control requirements.
· Maintain awareness of traffic, workers, equipment, and changing site conditions.
Quality Control & Documentation Support
Where experience and training permit:
· Assist Quality Control personnel with inspections and field documentation.
· Complete basic quality control checks and field records.
· Assist with documenting quantities, materials, testing, and construction activities.
· Take photographs and maintain organized project records.
· Assist with daily reports, inspection forms, and other project documentation.
· Communicate deficiencies or quality concerns to the appropriate project personnel.
Safety & Site Support
· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific requirements.
· Participate in daily toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
· Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, near misses, and incidents.
· Promote safe work practices and lead by example.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
· Support Superintendents, Foremen, and Safety personnel with site safety initiatives.
· Assist with emergency preparedness and site emergency response procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
· Valid Advanced First Aid / Level 3 First Aid certification.
· Construction experience or demonstrated experience working in an active field environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a construction crew.
· Strong situational awareness and ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
· Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Experience Considered an Asset
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
· Traffic Control Person (TCP).
· Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS).
· Construction Labourer.
· Quality Control Technician.
· Safety or Field Safety.
· Environmental monitoring or environmental field work.
· Construction inspection or field documentation.
· Heavy civil, road building, highway, or infrastructure construction.
Additional Certifications Considered an Asset
· TCP or TCS certification.
· WHMIS.
· CSTS.
· Ground Disturbance.
· Confined Space.
· Fall Protection.
· Flagging or traffic control training.
· Quality control or construction inspection certifications.
· Environmental or erosion and sediment control training.
· Other construction or safety-related certifications.
