We are seeking a dynamic Fund Development Manager to join our team!
The driving force behind fund development for Anova, this role’s primary task is fundraising, with a focus on maintain and developing relationships with existing and new donors. The role works as a critical function for the organization, bridging the work we do internally with community we serve through stewardship and engagement.
Position Summary:
The Fund Development Manager provides leadership in developing and implementing strategies for fund development that bolster revenue generation, organizational awareness and donor engagement activities. This role oversees all community-based annual and major gift fundraising activities for Anova, sponsorships, fund development communications, fundraising and donor events, and donor relations. This role oversees, manages and mentors members of the Fund Development Team, as well as works collaboratively with members of the Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education preferably in fundraising, marketing, business, or public relations
- Minimum 5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience
- Minimum 2 years of management experience preferred
- A proven track record in development communication and direct marketing, ideally within a nonprofit, educational or similarly complex environment
- Demonstrated experience supporting major gift fundraising
- Proven ability to network, build and foster relationships with a range of individuals, organizations and businesses
- Strong analytical research skills and the ability to strategically use information via market research to improve and enhance communications to donor audiences
- An understanding of fundraising for feminist causes and the synergies between feminist advocacy and/or public education campaigns and fund development
- Fund development financial analysis and planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills with the ability to make dynamic group presentations
- Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
- § Able to perform in a multi-layered, complex organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also as a collaborative team player who productively engages with others
- Advanced computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator; and/or equivalents
- Website maintenance experience, including knowledge of Content Management Systems
- Experience using online databases and other sources to locate financial and philanthropic information
- Fluency in French (or another language) an asset
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to the use of a vehicle
- Clear Vulnerable Sector background check
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Executive Director to create and execute an annual fund development plan that will increase revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization
- Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate all Anova special events, annual direct mail campaigns, targeted fundraising campaigns and digital/online fundraising
- Lead the development of Anova’s annual giving program, targeted fundraising campaigns and major gift program
- Organize and execute donor stewardship strategy, including donor recognition events
- Develop and pitch proposals for sponsorship support
- Evaluate and report regularly on the progress of the fund development program
- Build clear marketing and narratives that align with organizational brand and unify the various dimensions of Anova’s work for potential donors and current supporters
- Supervise, mentor and evaluate fund development support staff
