As a Senior Systems Engineer, your primary role would be a technical support and remediation, as a team member it would be contributing to the team by continuously level setting your skill sets. As a team we will work to help small/medium businesses apply technology and deliver profitability, productivity, and peace of mind.
Your typical day may look like:
- Remote end user support. Maintaining and developing relationships with our clients (Small Medium Businesses in Canada)
- Level 3 Projects and incident remediation.
- Maintenance across all client platforms, including but not limited to, Azure Cloud and on Prem Solutions.
- Identify new business opportunities when working with new or existing clients.
- Provide Help/Service Desk support (ie Perform desktop installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.)
- Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, applications, and security.
- Communicate with good intentions and purpose ensuring to gain a strong understanding of client requirements and expectations.
- Clearly communicate the progress of projects you are involved in.
- Act as the liaison between customers and sometimes 3rd party vendors/suppliers.
- Effortlessly engage with callers and team members, actively listen, analyze, and isolate tech issues.
- Comfortably navigate multiple applications to research solutions.
- Multitask in systems while patiently providing step-by-step instructions
- Calmly provide conflict resolution and navigate frustrated customer and team member situations.
- Work independently at times with minimal supervison.
- Go onsite and assist clients installing Servers, Network equipment, SAN/MSA.
About the Role & Responsibilities
- This role is in the office - not remote
- Provide timely response to all incidents, outages, and performance alerts.
- Recognize, identify, and prioritize incidents in accordance with customer business requirements, organizational policies and operational impact
- Monitor a wide variety of information and network systems that include, but are not limited to telecommunications circuits, LAN/WAN systems, routers, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, backup, operating systems, and core applications
- Document all actions
- Notify customer and third-party service providers of issues, outages, and remediation status
- Work with internal and external technical and service teams to create and/or update knowledgebase articles
- Perform a range of basic to complex systems testing and operational tasks (installation of patches, network connectivity testing, script execution, etc.)
- Maintaining, managing, and closing ticket within a centralized ticketing system
- Help in the design and implementation of application solutions to ensure that good practices in security development are respected.
- Identify and recommend actions to address vulnerabilities in the computing environment or inconsistencies in existing security processes
- Provide timely detection, identification, and alerts of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities, and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.
- Analyze identified malicious activity in the computing environment to determine weaknesses exploited, exploitation methods, and effects on system and information.
- Perform Microsoft Active Directory functions related to user management such as password resets, account management, etc.
- Investigate and troubleshoot network issues related to services such as DHCP and DNS
- Timely troubleshooting and support of laptops, printers and other hardware and software
- Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365) knowledge and troubleshooting (Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint etc.)
- Email client configuration & setup (Outlook, phone email setup, groups, etc.)
- Daily use of the helpdesk/ticketing system to track requests, activities.
- Ability to setup/troubleshoot mobile devices.
- Creation and maintenance of Windows PowerShell scripts
- Continuous improvement of staff technologies and the overall computing environment
- Answer and resolve incoming inquires/concerns from customers, and internal staff regarding technical and other issues concerning our products.
- Handle multiple projects and priorities with a high attention to detail.
- Manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Create internal IP around strategic frameworks and strategy development.
- Understand and utilize effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Perform additional collaborative duties as assigned.
All about you:
- Experience working in a technical environment providing remote support for a variety of technologies using different remote connectivity tools.
- Great knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server operating systems
- Great knowledge and experience with Microsoft Exchange
- Client-side computing - Ability to maintain technical documentation
- A proactive and self-motivated work ethic with a passion for excellent customer service and for seeing others succeed
- Experience in the troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of servers, SAN/MSA
- Experience with general server administration duties
- Experience in providing deskside support to a variety of users
- Exposure to Azure, Veeam, VMware, Hyper V, O365 and all suites of MS products, different AV platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability and drive to complete reports in a timely manner
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrable ability to work in teams as well as independently
- Team attitude, Honesty & Integrity.
Preferred Experience:
- IT Support: 5 years
- VMware: 5 years
- Windows Server: 5 years
- Microsoft Server operating systems: 5 years
- Troubleshooting, diagnostics, & repair of servers, SAN/MSA: 5 years
- General server administration duties: 5 years
- Have practical experience with Firewalls, switches, and wireless technologies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cisco, Watchguard, Fortinet, Sophos and Ubiquiti.
- Microsoft 365: Have a solid understanding of Microsoft 365, including the ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot its components such as Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint.
