Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations Accounting, this position will be primarily responsible for partnering with the HPC Operations Accounting Team and working collaboratively with all our stakeholders to provide financial inputs to monitor key business activities. In addition, this role will work closely with our site Turnaround team to develop and deliver timely data and dashboards.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Provides month end and quarter end support to the Operations Accounting Team including journal entries, approvals, SOX and analysis

Provides support and mentoring of junior team members

Partners with business and provides financial acumen to site decisions

Supports preparation of the annual operating budget and monthly operating forecasts and assist in the preparation of the annual capital budget

Supports Capital program, AFE development, asset management and approvals as required

Analyze, interpret, and provide forward looking information to present to the senior leadership team for decision making

Review costs, improve visibility and analysis of cost drivers, identify trends and implications of current costs on future costs, and provide this information to site personnel in a timely manner

Working with the Turnaround Team to develop reporting standards and improve data accuracy

Provide thought leadership for continuous improvement ideas, and provide analysis and verification of results for ongoing initiatives

Improve the quality and availability of data and business information, making key financial data readily available to leaders across the Business Unit

Provide ad hoc financial analysis for various stakeholders
Education, Skills and Experience:
-
CPA designation required
-
Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience in a related field, preferably industrial plant experience

Knowledge and application of IFRS, SOX

Excellent MS Office skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI

SAP 4 Hana, Maximo experience would be preferred

Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC), Strathcona county, 30 km drive from Edmonton.
9x80 Week 1 work schedule is a type of compressed work schedule that allows employees to work 80 hours over nine days instead of the usual ten, having 1 Friday off in every 2 weeks.
