Responsibilities

The Centre for Emotions and Health (CEH) is a centre of excellence in research, teaching and practicing Davanloo's Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (DISTDP, www.istdp.ca).

We are pleased to announce a full-time opening for a Psychologist with expertise in DISTDP to provide psychodiagnostic and brief treatment services to patients with medically unexplained symptoms who present to Family Practice Clinics of Nova Scotia Health Authority - Central Zone/Dalhousie University. This psychologist will liaise with Family Practitioners, video record sessions and be provided peer supervision/feedback from the CEH staff.

Interest in teaching is an asset as there are possible teaching components to this position. Established skills including successful treatment of a supervised videotaped case series of patients using DISTDP is a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

  • Recognized PhD in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program
  • Eligible for registration under the Psychologists Act of Nova Scotia
  • Requires independent professional judgment, initiative, self-reliance and adaptability in developing, organizing, supervising and delivering high quality psychological services and programs
  • There are opportunities for academic affiliation with Dalhousie University for suitably qualified applicants
  • Experience working with family physicians is an asset.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours of Work

  • Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Salary Information

Psychologist PhD:
$45.9071 - $57.3839 hourly
