Job Overview
The Database Administrator Architect (DBA Architect) is a senior technical role responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, and operational support of enterprise database platforms in a hybrid on-prem/Azure Cloud environment.
This position combines database architecture leadership with hands-on administration, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, highly available, and aligned with business requirements and regulatory expectations.

Database ArchitectureDesign: Develop logical and physical data models, define schemas, and lead database solution design.

Database AdministrationOperations: Maintain database platforms, manage backups and recovery, and provide Tier II/III support.

Performance OptimizationReliability: Implement tuning strategies and ensure systems meet performance targets.

Data Integration Support: Enable ETL processes and integration with enterprise platforms including Temenos.

GovernanceCompliance: Enforce standards, security, and regulatory compliance requirements.

DocumentationKnowledge Management: Maintain architecture documentation and procedures.

Database StrategyContinuous Improvement/Optimization: Recommend improvements and support modernization/optimization initiatives.

Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and enterprise policies.

Perform other duties as required
Required Skills
-
College or University Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline.

Minimum five (5+) years of experience in MS SQL database administration and design.
-
Microsoft SQL certification preferred.

Experience with Temenos Banking System preferred.

Experience with Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps preferred.
-
Experience with cross-data centre availability groups preferred.

Experience in regulated environments preferred.

Advanced SQL and relational database expertise (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).

Strong data modelling and database design capabilities.
-
Experience with performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security controls.

Familiarity with ETL, scripting, and Temenos systems is an asset.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities.

Participation in on-call rotation and after-hours support as required.

Ability to work in a hybrid work environment.
This role is hybrid in Hamilton, ON.

Salary Range: $93,677 to $128,806 annually.
Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Those whose experience more closely aligns the role's requirements may be placed higher within the salary range.
