Reporting to the Group Account Director, the primary role of the Project Director is to lead, manage and distill the flow of information and materials for our clients as well as create inspired, market savvy client solutions and to inspire and support the client team leads. In addition, Project Directors are responsible to forge strong relationships between the client stakeholders and the agency. The Project Director is a collaborator who values partnering with client services, strategy, design and production teams to ensure projects are well defined, brands and ideas can travel successfully to other mediums, production can support creative intent and timing and costs are within agreed upon parameters.

Overview of the Position

Who You’ll Work With
The Client Service Team has been established to drive and govern Pigeon’s key strategic accounts and initiatives - which by nature are highly complex and dynamic - through proper project leadership and management best practices. Your primary objectives are strategic forecasting, increasing project management competencies and project delivery that includes the effective use of common project management methodologies, tools, templates, education and training. Our work is focused on design leadership, problem solving and driving results through the efficient management of information and processes.

What You’ll Do
As Project Director for the integrated Client Service Team, you’ll work closely with Pigeon’s internal teams, providing leadership and executional capabilities to ensure business teams are able to deliver and sustain the full benefits of project management standards, methodologies, and best practices. Right from the start of a project, you will be on the ground ensuring that successful project outcomes are a priority. While engaging internal stakeholders as well as client stakeholders, your role is to lead, oversee and ensure effective project delivery and sustainable project benefits.

  • Working with experienced business leaders who will empower you to lead your projects, develop your capabilities and make things happen.
  • Development of project management and change management plans that incorporate all business, technology and operational aspects of the project
  • Identification and management of dependencies between individual projects in the program
  • Establishing and managing the critical path, such that priorities can be set, communicated and adjusted with awareness of the potential impact on quality, cost or timeliness

Other Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Facilitate the definition of project scopes, goals, task requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional groups; develop methods to monitor project progress and provide corrective action if necessary
  • Ensure that suitable risk assessment and contingency planning (for relevant projects) takes place, is communicated and agreed upon by all stakeholders and is acted on if necessary to keep the project on track or to accelerate the project if the business need exists
  • Support the alignment of the approach for planning, managing, monitoring, the businesses projects and portfolio with key stakeholders
  • Build and manage the project schedule, define the critical path, track activities to ensure functional team members are meeting agreed upon deadlines and approvals
  • Apply leadership, coaching and influencing skills to manage and engage cross-functional teams and drive projects forward, ensuring time and resources are used effectively and efficiently to meet project and business objectives
  • Extensive change / project management knowledge
  • Highly-developed project management, organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to self-direct, manage and navigate project team through ambiguity
  • Ability to engage, persuade, gain alignment and drive action across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of operations and basic supply chain principles
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, knowing when to take calculated risks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong drive for results

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or other related degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Engineering or a related field, with an excellent academic record
  • Completion of an MBA is a strong asset
  • PMP, Process Improvement, Change Management and Agile certifications are considered assets

Experience

  • 8-10+ years of client or agency experience in business or consulting roles, with a proven record of achievement and impact
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project management experience, leading large scale and complex transformations
  • Experience working in packaging development is an asset
  • Integrated marketing agency experience is an asset
