Position: Youth Worker (full time midnights)
The Windsor Residence for Young Men is seeking skilled individuals to work with homeless males aged 16-24 in our residential transitional housing program. The focus of this program is to instill resiliency and foster self-reliance in homeless young men through a functional family atmosphere which emphasizes healthy routines, structure, and life-skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise residents and volunteers in a transitional housing and life-skills program for homeless and at-risk young men.
- Conduct basic case management and complete intakes and discharges.
- Assist with basic life skill development e.g. cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
- Liaise with family members, social service agencies and health care providers involved with our residents.
- Effectively resolve conflict situations as they arise.
- Reading and maintaining a daily log each shift for communication between shifts, employees and record keeping.
- Record keeping e.g. client information, referrals, food inventory.
- Security rounds and room checks every shift to ensure safety and compliance of residence policies and procedures.
- Meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry instruction & demonstration.
- Attend staff meetings and training exercises as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designate.
Qualifications
- Vulnerable Persons Police Clearance / Criminal Record check
- First-aid and CPR certification
- Communicable diseases clearance
- Related post-secondary experience required
- Prior relevant work experience preferred
- Safe Food Handling Certificate required (can attain after hire)
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention training certificate is an asset
Status: Full time midnights, Monday to Friday, 12 am to 8 am
Salary: $20.00/hr, plus yearly $1,000 wellness bonus
