Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for the upcoming camp season. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for children of various ages. Your primary responsibility will be to engage campers in activities that promote learning, teamwork, and personal growth while ensuring their well-being and safety throughout their camp experience.
Legal Requirements
This positions is funded through the federal government's Canada Summer Jobs program. They require that applicants are:
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- Under the age of 30
Duties
- Supervise and engage with campers during activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Foster a supportive environment by encouraging campers to participate in group activities and develop new skills.
- Provide guidance and support to campers, addressing any issues or conflicts that may arise.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding camper progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a cohesive team dynamic that enhances the overall camp experience.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is preferred.
- Background in early childhood education or related fields is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and mentor campers effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities.
- A passion for outdoor activities, creativity, and fostering a love for learning among children.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by camp policies.
