Earthworks Supervisor
The Earthworks Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating field execution of heavy civil and earthworks activities on mining and infrastructure projects. This role oversees grading, excavation, haulage, site preparation, and road construction, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements and site conditions.
Responsibilities
The Earthworks Supervisor will be responsible for the following:
Field Supervision & Coordination

Supervise and coordinate crews and operators performing excavation, grading, compaction, haulage, and site preparation activities

Provide clear daily direction, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient crew and equipment utilization

Support training and mentoring of operators to maintain consistent performance and safety standards
Contractor & Crew Oversight

Oversee subcontracted crews, monitoring productivity, safety, and quality of work

Ensure work aligns with scope, schedule, and project expectations

Coordinate closely with other field personnel, survey, and project teams
Operations & Productivity

Track daily progress, quantities, and production against targets

Assist with work planning, sequencing, and execution of earthworks activities

Perform and support light mechanical work and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
Safety & Compliance

Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across crews

Lead toolbox talks, FLHAs, and field-level safety activities

Ensure compliance with site safety standards, environmental requirements, and operational procedures
Quality & Environmental

Ensure work is completed in line with project specifications and site requirements

Support inspections, material placement, and compaction standards

Maintain environmental best practices related to soil handling, drainage, and site conditions
Equipment & Logistics

Coordinate daily use of heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, graders, and haul units

Monitor equipment performance and support maintenance planning

Assist with logistics in remote or challenging operating conditions
