Role Mandate:
As the leader of the packaging design creative team, this role will be accountable for driving strategy and vision as the owner of Loblaw Control Brands creative development and execution. As a member of the Leadership team, you will be accountable to coach, lead and develop a high performing and dynamic team of creative thought leaders who are ultimately responsible for the Loblaws control brands on shelf. Driving this team to achieve performance results through clearly defined customer and performance based metrics.

Fully accountable for decision making on what faces our customers in market on our packaging.

Accountabilities:
People Leadership, Coaching, and Development of a high performing packaging design team:

Motivates and guides the team by providing best in class creative and conceptual thought leadership to deliver packaging design solutions.
Collaborate with Sr. Leadership to establish the design studio vision and strategic objectives; communicate vision to team members and hold the team accountable to delivering on the execution of it.
Accountable for staying up to date, educating the team and applying current industry styles, innovations and trends.
Provide ongoing coaching to deliver on performance objectives and individual development plans.
Accountable for ongoing open communication and partnership with Senior Leadership on packaging design decision making and process optimization
Culture, process and change champion for Loblaw Brands.
Creative Leadership and Expertise to oversee all processes within Design, Production, and Editorial process for all Loblaw Control Brands:

Provides thought leadership and drives final decision making as it relates to creative packaging design.
Accountable for creative concepts, design process and final design packaging outputs.
Ownership of the creation, communication, consistency and adherence to packaging design brand guidelines.
Builds, manages and makes strategic recommendations on external and internal partnerships

Represents Loblaw Control Brands internally and externally.
Owns communication and collaboration to develop both internal cross functional teams to drive value for the business.
Ensures all third-party partners are ethical, uphold policies and standards.
Experience in workflow capacity management, making difficult decisions, thinking out of the box, in order to deliver on required targets
Attend and lead meetings and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver business requirements.

Financial Management and budgeting:
Responsible for financial management (including the creative design budget).
Creating strategic partnerships with Studio Director and Finance Team.
Accountable for building and establishing new financial management processes as it relates to the Design Studio
Experience in delivering speed to market, accuracy and quality through KPI’s as they relate to design, production and editorial productivity and speed to market.

Role Requirements:
Proven experience leading high performing creative teams including editorial, production and design.
Drives results through the direction of Design, Production, and Editorial functions.
Experience with retail and strong knowledge of the packaging design process is an asset.
Creative and conceptual thinker and effective problem solver with solution-based approach.
Enjoys being a culture engaged and people first leader.
University degree and coaching certificate (would be an asset)
Graphic Design, Editorial or Communication experience preferred.
7-10 years of experience leading a creative design team.
5-7 years of experience managing and leading a multi-leveled team.
Broad organizational skills gained through significant business, technical and leadership experience and training.
Demonstrated relationship management skills with strong abilities to persuade, influence and/or negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
The ability to deliver and/or make decisions that have a significant impact to organizational objectives, improve productivity and manage risk.
