As integral members of our team, the Museums Assistants will be responsible for providing support for museum programs, events and exhibit and assist in the development, research and presentation of many projects. Professional customer service is a high priority while maintaining facility and grounds. The main project will be using professional standards to complete collection documentation, permanent numbering, digital photograph or scanning within Ultima Database while maintaining daily preservation techniques of light, humidity and pest management. The ability to lift and move up to 20 kg is required. Exceptional communication ability in speaking and writing English as well as excellent computer and Word processing (Microsoft Office) skills with experience in Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft publisher will considered an asset, as with familiarity with Website and social media applications of Facebook page and Twitter feed.
Museum Assistants will also aid with the development and implementation of successful summer services and programs for school groups, group tours and individuals.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the local area, or an earnest desire to learn more.
Further, they will have the opportunity in providing visitor services at local events and attractions throughout the summer with a Mobile Kiosk during some evening and Saturdays to promote Millet and area as trained Travel Counsellors.
Full time University and College Student who is currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program (full time in the semester preceding this job and intend to return to full time studies in the semester this fall)
Students must register in the Young Canada Works candidate inventory and meet the eligibility criteria for that program.
Students must be 18- 30 years old.
