Overview
Plains Constructors Canada Ltd. is looking for reliable and hardworking Skilled Labourers to join our growing construction team.
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous heavy equipment operating experience. Candidates with strong operating experience may be offered a higher rate depending on their skills and experience.
This position offers opportunities for both in-town and out-of-town construction projects, depending on project needs.
Job Duties
- Perform general labour duties on civil construction sites
- Assist operators and supervisors with daily construction activities
- Assist with culvert installation and earthwork
- Perform site preparation, cleanup, material handling, and general construction duties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials
- Work around heavy equipment, vehicles, workers, and utilities
- Operate equipment when qualified and directed
- Complete daily inspections and report equipment or site hazards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow direction from supervisors and work effectively as part of a crew
- Follow all company safety and environmental procedures
- Perform other construction-related duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous construction or civil construction experience is preferred
- Heavy equipment operating experience is a strong asset
- Experience operating excavators, dozers, loaders, or other equipment is preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and other workers
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically capable of performing general construction duties
- Willingness to work in varying weather and site conditions
- Ability to work out of town when required
Work Location
Positions are available for both in-town and out-of-town projects throughout Alberta.
Some positions will be based on Edmonton-area projects, while others will require travel and extended stays away from home.
Living Out Allowance (LOA) is provided for eligible out-of-town work.
PPE
Required PPE will be provided by Plains Constructors. Employees are responsible for providing their own CSA-approved work boots.
