MacKenzie and MacKenzieis a boutique law firm specializing and Real Estate and Family Law. Formerly McKechnie, Jurgeit and MacKenzie, our firm has been operating in the Etobicoke area for over 30 years and has established a reputation for professionalism and integrity in both the legal community and among its clients.
We currently have a job opening for a SENIOR Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to assist in Family Law litigation, and Estate Administration. The candidate will become part of a close knit, committed, and supportive team of individuals. A good sense of humor and a positive attitude is a must. This is an in person, in office position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers in the preparation of Family Law pleadings, including Applications, Answers, Affidavits, Financial Statements, motion materials, etc.
- Prepare financial disclosure, pleadings briefs, disclosure briefs etc.
- Draft and transcribe correspondences to clients and counsel
- Prepare court documents for service and filing
- Assist lawyers in preparation of Applications for Appointment of Estate Trustee
- Prepare Draft Wills and Powers of Attorney
- Directly communicate with and assist clients
- General administrative and office duties
Requirements:
- Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent training/education (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Family Law/civil litigation or related work experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of the Family Law Rules, Rules of Civil Procedure, court procedures and filing deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of DivorceMate, PCLaw, Microsoft Office, Case Centre, and Philips Transcription software
- The candidate must be detail oriented, flexible, and committed to providing quality customer service
Salary:
- Candidate will receive a salary between $75,000.00 and $85,000.00 per year depending on experience.
