Position Summary
Strohmaier Excavating (2019) Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Construction Junior Foreman to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading crews and coordinating equipment to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
The Junior Foreman will possess strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of civil construction practices, and the ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents. Experience in road construction, earthworks, and underground utility installation is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily construction site activities in a safe and productive manner.
- Coordinate work with Supervisors, Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, and Clients.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade sheets, and construction documents.
- Layout and oversee excavation work according to project specifications.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed according to schedule and budget.
- Assess and coordinate material requirements for ongoing projects.
- Supervise grading, bedding, pipe installation, and backfilling operations.
- Lead and mentor field crews to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Conduct site inspections and identify potential issues before work begins.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordination of crews, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards are followed.
- Promote a positive safety culture through leadership and accountability.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on civil construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure and utility installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade information, and contract documents.
- Demonstrated project coordination and leadership experience.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Occupational First Aid certification.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Class 3 or Class 1 licence is considered an asset.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate must:
- Maintain a valid BC Driver's Licence at all times.
- Provide and maintain an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Be committed to safe work practices and leadership in the field.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing daily crew operations.

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
