Accounting Manager (Contract)
Position Type: 12 Month Contract
Location: Toronto, ON (4 days a week on-site)
Compensation: $100,000 to $115,000/Annually + 4% Vacation Pay
We are currently assisting our client, a leading global entertainment company, in filling an Accounting Manager vacancy. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role will oversee the financial close process for the assigned division. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Close Process: Oversee and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring timely and accurate completion: review and approve journal entries and accruals for precise financial reporting, manage the North America Intercompany process, supervise the review, maintenance, and monitoring of monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly financial reporting, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and detailed financial variance analysis.
- Internal Controls: Develop and enforce internal controls and procedures to protect company assets and reduce financial risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership to offer financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Procedure Development: Create and maintain standardized operating procedures for the accounting department, designing workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
- Audit Support: Facilitate Internal and External audits by meeting requirements and ensuring compliance with regulations. Regularly update procedures in line with evolving accounting standards and industry best practices.
- Process Improvement: Drive initiatives to standardize and improve processes, leveraging systems, automation, and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Undertake special projects as needed throughout the year.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPA Designation (in-progress or completed)
- Strong accounting and financial reporting expertise (IFRS preferred)
- Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP/BPC
- Ability to respond to, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of completeness and accuracy
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp focus on detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex process-related information to stakeholders at all levels
The indicated pay range is a good‑faith estimate based on required qualifications, experience, training, and other factors permitted by law. It reflects the pay band established by the client company. Actual offers may vary depending on skills, experience, geographic location, and expected work quality.
